What is Self-Awareness Counseling?

"The happiness of your life depends upon the quality of your thoughts."

- Marcus Aurelius

"There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so."

- William Shakespeare

"As soon as you trust yourself, you will know how to live."

- Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe

I developed what I call Self-Awareness Counseling because I found that most people were doing too much thinking and not enough living. While traditional counseling focuses energy on people’s past, I wanted to focus on our experience with life in the present.

Life is not a riddle to be figured out, and personal freedom is not a mystical state of mind known only to monks. I discovered that finding mental health is possible within the context of our everyday responsibilities and obligations, and with some practice, we can be free now.

Connecting with our personal freedom and developing the ability to navigate through life with a smile doesn’t happen through the intellect.

We are all born with a natural ability to roll with life; an ability to deal with its challenges and gently shift back into a positive state of being. We all have this skill, but we loose sight of it and thus it becomes weak, like a muscle without exercise.

My work with clients amounts to going out and getting exercise, like helping an athlete find their perfect swing. Many people have lost touch with themselves, searching for fulfillment from events in their lives rather than realizing that fulfillment comes from within. Lasting enjoyment of life comes from the inside-out, and making this adjustment gives us the chance to rediscover play and creativity – the freedoms we knew so well as children.

Self-Awareness Counseling is a light, easy process where we’re focused on doing and being, not thinking and analyzing. It’s quite refreshing and also easy to do, although like anything worthwhile, it requires some practice to change our approach to ourselves and to life.

When my clients realize they are more than their thinking mind, and reconnect with their natural wisdom and potential, life becomes easier, not effortful.
